INDEAR was the core of a national initiative aimed at exploring the genetic diversity inherent in our soil ecosystems (SOILGeNe) from 2001 to 2013. To this purpose, we followed a metagenomic strategy using second generation sequencing technology.
The main goal of this project was to discover new allelic forms for enzymes and other proteins suitable for industrial applications or crop breeding.
These efforts were supported by the National Agency for the Scientific and Technology Promotion (ANPCyT), and included the participation of nine external Research groups.
