The Illumina HiSeq 1500 high performance sequencing technology enables delivery of up to 300 Gb of data in a single run, with read outs of an average length of 100 bp. The platform is entirely flexible and scalable, as it also allows performing quick-mode runs delivering 60-90 GB in read outs with an average length of 150 bp.
Over 80 % of the read outs have outstanding quality parameters (> Q30) assuring a high degree of accuracy at the sequence level. The high volumes of data generated in record time, plus the high accuracy of the read outs obtained make this technology the most suitable to address projects involving genomic and transcriptomic high scale projects in higher eukaryiotes. As the system delivers short read outs, the main applications are based in the resequencing of organisms with reference genomes, since this make the assembly/annotation processes easier.
This technology was acquired pursuant to the Argentine Center of Genomic Technology (CATG) consortium terms.
