The use of fossil fuels for power generation, transportation and industrial production accounts for 60% of the global emissions of greenhouse-effect gases. It is estimated that by 2050, the growth in population and economy will increase power demand by 50%.

Renewable bioenergy is an alternate power source to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels and to mitigate climate change. Today more than 40% of corn produced is utilized for fluid fuels, creating grain price volatility and affecting food supply to the poorest sectors of the world population.

At INDEAR we develop technologies that will allow energy generation from plant biomass with no nutritional value and therefore not affecting the food supply.

We have signed a strategic alliance with YPF S.A. by which we contribute with all of our R&D capacity to the development of enzymatic cocktails for biomass pretreatment, used in the production of cellulosic ethanol, seeking to develop technological solutions which can be easily integrated in future biorefineries.
